Pump Booster Set Supply for Dalrymple
Scottish Water has faced recurring difficulties in supplying water to multiple reservoirs during drought conditions, often necessitating the deployment of tankers for temporary relief of the pressure. Recognising the need for a permanent solution, WGM Engineering engaged with IDsystems (IDS) to design and supply a pump booster set along the Afton Reservoir pipeline. With the aim of improving the water supply to Afton Reservoir, the installation of a booster set marks a significant step towards ensuring water sustainability in the region.
Challenges and Solutions
The project encountered challenges associated with limited site area and the tight entrance into site which caused logistical constraints. Bradan Water main also runs directly below which had to be considered throughout the project. However, meticulous planning and innovative solutions from the design team ensured the successful installation of the booster set and plinth within the site without the need for removing boundary fences.
Technical Expertise and Collaboration
WGM’s Technical and Design team worked closely with IDS to develop detailed drawings and designs for the site teams which they could pressure test. This collaboration facilitated the seamless installation of pipework and electrical ducting, all while adhering to the stringent parameters of the site.
The installation of the booster set represents a proactive approach to addressing water supply challenges and enhancing water resilience in the region. Through effective collaboration, technical expertise, and innovative problem-solving, WGM Engineering and IDS have demonstrated a commitment to delivering sustainable solutions that benefit the community and the environment.
WGM is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of health, safety, quality and efficiency, and are always delighted to contribute to a more resilient water infrastructure for generations to come.
